About

Our Story

On June 1st 2002, Dr. Paul Murray and First Lady Rachel Murray with their 3 children moved from Hazelton, Pennsylvania were they served the Apostolic Faith Church as an assistant pastor to become the pastor of a small congregation of 12 members in Glen Burnie. With a vision built on genuine kingdom building and servant leadership, over the past 17+ years, Pastor Murray has trained up leaders and established 6 preaching points throughout the east coast and in Nairobi, Africa while maintaining a small but vibrant church family. In these unsettling and rapidly changing times, The Lighthouse Church is focused on growing this local assembly through ministries and outreach efforts to ensure a greater impact and footprint throughout the Anne Arundel County and surrounding communities.

As our church is growing, so is our love for God and all the people in this area. Our current ministries are growing to include Discovery Classes, Hot Topics Series, Discipleship Groups, and Community Service Projects. We encourage and empower our members to be the hands and feet of Jesus at work, in their neighborhoods and  as a part of any social activity they are involved in. We continue to build servant leadership ministries by partnering with community organizations and missions organizations around the world.

What To Expect

Our Sunday worship services and midweek studies are open to all at The Lighthouse Church. People come from all backgrounds and dress in ways they are comfortable, From just wearing jeans to business casual or to their 'Sunday best', you are welcome. We are not focused on what you wear, so come as you are!

Our Sunday morning Discovery Class begins promptly at 10:30am. The pastor or leader teaches a bible-based message with practical application to help you live out your faith during the week. This is often interactive and always afford you an opportunity to ask questions.

Sunday Worship service begins at 11:15am with music, often songs you might recognize if you listen to Christian radio. A member of the leadership team will minister with a relatable and life changing message which is biblically grounded.  Often you are given an opportunity to come forward for prayer and healing.

Services are usually a little over an hour, and then you’re welcome to hang out and talk with people afterwards Some services we celebrate communion, but there’s no pressure to participate if you don’t want to.

If you have children under the age of 3, we have a nursery area. For children 3 years old through 6th grade, we have Children’s Sunday School - a fun, up-beat class that includes music, games and a bible lesson taught at their level.  We encourage junior and high school students, to join their parents in adult service.

Our midweek study is held on Wednesday Evenings at 7:00pm. You are encouraged to come as you are. This is an informal one hour class that aides you in your spiritual growth by comprehending Scripture in meaningful and applicable ways. You are encouraged to take notes; you are taught how to use your bible and are introduced to study materials that enhance your learning experience.

A PLACE FOR FRIENDSHIP
Nothing quite compares to the joy of Christian friendship and fellowship. That's why we make it a priority to build lasting bonds between the members of our church family - bonds of concern and genuine commitment to one another. Best of all, this circle of care is ever-widening. We'd love for it to include you, too.

A PLACE FOR LEARNING
To us, studying the Bible is vital because it not only instructs us intellectually, but also guides us spiritually. We believe it and accept it as God's Word to man, a Book that is alive and relevant to life today. Learning its truths is a thrilling adventure.

A PLACE FOR ENRICHMENT
For every person at every age level, we offer a wealth of opportunities - special programs and ministries for children, youth and adults which fill the church calendar. You can be sure that in this kaleidoscope of activities there's more than one place where you can be personally enriched.

A PLACE FOR SERVICE
Just as Jesus Christ came "not to be ministered unto, but to minister..." we accept our responsibility to reach out in service to others. This applies both within the church family and outside our fellowship.

The primary reason we meet together is to focus our attention on God, giving Him our worship and receiving His blessing and inspiration. Each of these occasions is a special time of spiritual refreshment. We hope this is what you experience when you visit our church, and we certainly hope to see you here very soon.
