As the chant, “Black Lives Matter” holds center stage across our nation, there is this growing counter call, “All Lives Matter”. This response derives from those who want to retain their own sense of value and not be excluded from the equation. Does one life hold more value over another life . . . Whose lives matter? This is a question which comes up more often than we may think. We have come to that place where we question the value of a life. Does my life matter more than yours? Does the life of an unborn child matter more than the life of the mother? Does the life of a teenaged Leukemia patient matter more than the life of a cancer-stricken senior? Do Black Lives matter more than All Lives?
Bishop Murray shares how Christ speaks to the churches in Revelations. In the first letter was sent to the church located in Ephesus. That letter accused the church of having left her first love. In effect, Jesus said to this congregation, “You are a furnace with no fire.”
Bishop Murray shares Acts 20:7-12 and speaks from, the window Seat. There certainly is no such place from a natural perspective, because the window is not made for sitting in, it is a very uncomfortable place, it is a place through which light and fresh air enters the room.
Bishop Murray asks us to consider in this Bible Study, what did Jesus mean when He told Nicodemus, “You must be born again”? And what does His comment about being, “born of the water and the Spirit” mean to us today?
